ABOUT US
After being founded in 1981 by John White as J C White Chartered Land Surveyors, our company’s first main office was located in Evegate and has since relocated across various offices within the South East of Kent and the name has been refined over time. Since 2003, we’ve been at our current office just off the M20 near Hythe, which gives us access to one of the main arterial motorways through the county, providing efficient access to the majority of Kent and reducing journey times when our work takes us further nationwide. In April 2019 the eponymous founder retired from the industry and the company was bought by the current Directors; Mike Guntripp, Andy Kay, Ian O’Flaherty, and Joe Smith. This has ensured continuation of both the smooth operation and delivery of quality surveying practice and drawing, and provides a wealth of varied expertise for clients.
Throughout the company’s existence, there is a history of investing in the future of land surveying by regularly employing trainees and equipping them with the necessary education and qualifications, whilst imbuing the collective experience and proficiency garnered over time by the Directors and other team members. Along side investing in our staff, we have made continual advances with the technology and equipment at the forefront of the surveying profession to continue to offer the best and up-to-date solutions to clients requirements. Our staff have a wide range of qualifications and training, such as Confined Spaces, site-specific Nuclear Power Stations and National Grid courses, and our UAV pilots hold GVC licenses and fly with PDRA01 Operational Authorisation so we are adept at integrating into a variety of site requirements.

Our Values
At J C White Geomatics Ltd., we take pride in the way we work. Our values reflect the standards we aim for on every job and the approach we believe in as a company.
At the centre of all our work are our clients, as such our driving force is on ensuring they have the best possible experience working with us, from initial enquiry and quotation, site work interactions, and producing and receiving the finished drawings. We believe clear communication across the job is key to a successful job for all parties involved. Our clients are kept informed throughout a project, we check in where needed, and make sure the final product meets expectations. This ensures expectations are met, reduces the chance of confusion or delay, and helps build long-term working relationships. We’re incredibly proud to have over 70% of our clients repeat custom.
As a strong and united team, we collaborate efficiently and take genuine pride in our work. The nature of the work we do inevitably throws up challenges, however, when challenges do arise, we talk openly and find solutions together. We’re committed to supporting one another, and that shared sense of responsibility empowers us to maintain high standards.
Team welfare remains an unwavering priority, with staff safety ensured through comprehensive training, issue of task and site specific personal protective equipment, and robust risk-mitigation procedures. A culture of continuous learning and proactive hazard identification creates an environment where every team member feels secure and confident in their duties. Regular risk assessments and safety audits reinforce resilience across all operations.
We’ve built our reputation on carrying out high quality surveys with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail resulting in drawings produced to a high cartographic standard. Our aim is for our surveys to be clear, practical, and easy-to-use, with each one tailored to the needs of the project rather than relying on standard templates. We’ll often include additional information where we know it will benefit the client, and we’re known for going that extra bit further to make sure the finished product is practically useful and provides exactly what’s required in the first drawing issue.
All surveys commissioned by clients are carried out and drawn up by the site surveyor, then checked at multiple stages during processing, held up to a BSI certified ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The final drawings and deliverables undergo further review before issue. Everything is produced in-house to maintain consistency and control over quality and production methodology.
We maintain a policy of seeing the value in reinvesting profits into state-of-the-art surveying equipment, computers, and software. Reinvestment allows us to work more efficiently and innovatively, take on more complex jobs, and maintain high standards across all areas of the business, while continually pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable in modern surveying. This is only possible through sustained good performance that is directly linked to maintaining long-term relationships with clients.
Clients trust us to do the job properly, and that trust is something we take seriously; we aim to deliver work in a time-efficient and cost-effective way, maintaining accuracy and high standards along the way. We always work with the aim of providing a reliable product that offers real value over the long term. Our pricing reflects the experience and breadth of capability we add to your project, and the professionalism delivered in every single survey to provide our clients with a dependable foundation to work with.
Since becoming established, J C White Geomatics Ltd. commits to developing the next generation of surveyors. By investing in training and mentoring, especially for younger and early-career staff, we help nurture future talent and support long-term skills in the industry. Our staff have a mix of backgrounds and a wealth of cross-industry experience, so everyone in the team plays a part in this development of the next generation. Because the industry is always evolving, so are our staff; learning and development is not just reserved for trainees, we believe that all team members should have access to the training they want and need to expand their skill set within the company and surveying.
We’re proud to have worked on some of the most significant construction and civil engineering projects in the UK of recent decades, and we see it as our responsibility to uphold the standards, traditions, and technical heritage of the profession. Through knowledge sharing and hands-on experience, we help pass that forward and interact with the industry to continue building our legacy at the forefront of land surveying.

The biggest benefit of working with J C White Geomatics Ltd. has been the reliability of professional service delivery, both in the field and survey office support.
